This is Legislative Counsel's annual maintenance of the codes omnibus bill. This bill makes nonsubstantive changes in various provisions of law to effectuate the recommendations made by the Legislative Counsel to the Legislature. The bill includes conforming technical amendments to the Gambling Control Act (Section 19861). Note: SB 730 (Florez, Chapter 438, Statutes of 2007) included amendments to Business and Professions Code section 19801 that, in part, that renumbered subdivision (i) to (j). However, the reference to subdivision (i) of Section 19801within f Section 19801section 19861 was not changed to conform to the 2007 bill. SB 1171 makes this correction.

AB 2914 (Committee on Governmental Organization) Gaming: Indian Gaming Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. Chapter Number: 110
This bill updates Government Code sections 12012.75 and 12012.90 related to the Indian Gaming Revenue Sharing Trust Fund (RSTF) that was established to implement the 1999 tribal-state gaming compacts. Specifically, the bill: (1) Updates the statute to incorporate the provisions in the new and amended Compacts, including the definition of the RSTF; (2) Deletes obsolete provisions in the Government Code related to the methodology for determining RSTF shortfalls and making RSTF distributions; (3) Allows the Commission to aggregate the amounts paid into the RSTF by individual tribes in the Commission's quarterly RSTF report for those tribes that contribute on a net win or gross gaming revenue basis and protects tribal information that is confidential pursuant to the Compacts; (4) Improves the structure of the statute; and, (5) Makes other nonsubstantive, technical changes related to the RSTF.

SB 1187 (Lara D) Claims against the state: appropriation. Chapter Number: 281
Existing law requires the Attorney General, who is the head of the Department of Justice, to report certain claims, settlements, and judgments against the state to the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Appropriations or the Assembly Committee on Appropriations. Existing law requires the chairperson to introduce legislation appropriating funds for the payment of the claims, settlements, and judgments. This bill would appropriate $36,555,686.61 from the General Fund to the Department of Justice to pay the judgment and any applicable interest or settlement in specified cases. The bill includes an appropriation of $36.3 million from the General Fund to the Department of Justice for the judgement and interest related to Pauma Band of Luiseno Mission v. State of California
