Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
today announced the following appointments:
George Campbell, 59, of
Manchester, has been appointed to the
Southwestern Low-Level Radioactive Waste
Commission. He served at Lawrence Livermore
National Laboratory from 1972 to 1982 and 1988
to 2003, concluding his tenure as deputy
associate director and deputy laboratory site
manager. Campbell is currently assisting the
Laboratory in the development of a contractor
assurance system. This position requires Senate
confirmation and there is no salary. Campbell is
a Democrat.
Eric Gores, 22, of Beverly
Hills, has been appointed to the State Council
on Developmental Disabilities. He is an actor
who most recently starred in the film The Kid
& I. Gores was born prematurely and has
cerebral palsy. He has been a strong advocate
for individuals with developmental disabilities
for many years. This position does not require
Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100
per diem. Gores is registered
decline-to-state.
Roger Kozberg, 69, of Beverly
Hills, has been appointed to the State Teachers'
Retirement Board. He was originally appointed to
the Board by Governor Schwarzenegger in April of
2005. Kozberg is currently a risk management
consultant and was previously a senior vice
president for Marsh Risk & Insurance
Services from 1997 to 2005. He has over forty
years of experience in the insurance brokerage
business. Kozberg also serves as a director of
the public television station KCET in Los
Angeles and is a trustee for the Natural History
Museum of Los Angeles County. He has served as
chair of the California Transportation
Commission and president of the California
Science Center Board. This position requires
Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100
per diem. Kozberg is a Republican.
Kenneth Vadnais, 52, of Santa
Barbara, has been appointed to the Southwestern
Low-Level Radioactive Waste Commission. He has
served as owner/chief engineer for Sensor
Technology Engineering, Inc. since 1996.
Previously, Vadnais was assistant program
manager for EG&G Energy Measurements in the
Special Technologies Laboratory from 1994 to
1995 and was a United Nations Arms Inspector in
Iraq for the International Atomic Energy Agency
in 1994. This position requires Senate
confirmation and there is no salary. Vadnais is
a Democrat.
Alexandra Vuksich, 55, of
Sacramento, has been appointed to the Gambling
Control Commission. She has served as acting
appointments secretary to the Governor since
2005 and chief deputy appointments secretary
since 2003. Vuksich was previously a
commissioner on the Medical Assistance
Commission from 1999 to 2003 and director of
special projects for Governor Pete Wilson from
1991 to 1999. She has also served as a special
assistant to Governor George Deukmejian and an
account executive for DFS/Dorland Worldwide
Advertising. This position requires Senate
confirmation and the compensation is $114,191.
Vuksich is a
Republican.
