Alexandra Vuksich, Commissioner
Governor Schwarzenegger appointed Alexandra Vuksich to the Gambling Control Commission on January 4, 2006. She was appointed as the member from the public at large. She has served the Governor as Chief Deputy Appointments Secretary and Appointments Secretary from 2003 to 2005. Vuksich was a Commissioner on the California Medical Assistance Commission from 1999 to 2003 and Director of Special Projects for Governor Pete Wilson from 1991 to 1999. She has also served as a Special Assistant to Governor George Deukmejian. Prior to her work in the public sector, Ms. Vuksich was a successful public relations and advertising professional as an Account Executive with DFS/Dorland Worldwide advertising in San Francisco from 1979-1986. She next joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as manager of public affairs and senior news editor for Western Magazine, where she was responsible for internal and external communications and represented the company in forging civic and community partnerships throughout the territory. Vuksich earned her Bachelors of Art degree in history from College of Notre Dame and an advanced degree in the Teacher Credential Program at San Francisco State University.
