Gaming Policy Advisory Committee - GPAC
The Gambling Control Act provides in Section 19817 that the Gambling Control Commission, "shall establish and appoint a Gaming Policy Advisory Committee of 10 members.The committee shall be composed of representatives of controlled gambling licensees and members of the general public in equal numbers. The executive director shall, from time to time, convene the committee for the purpose of discussing matters of controlled gambling regulatory policy and any other relevant gambling-related issues. The recommendations concerning gambling policy made by the committee shall be presented to the commission, but shall be deemed advisory and not binding on the commission in the performance of its duties or functions. The committee may not advise the commission on Indian gaming".
The following individuals have been appointed to serve a two-year term, ending May 2007, as members of the Gaming Policy Advisory Committee:
Representatives of Controlled Gambling Licensees
- Ileana Harris, Owner of Casino Poker Club, Inc.
- Kermit Schayltz, Owner of Lucky Derby Casino and President of the Golden State Gaming Association.
- Andrew Schneiderman, General Counsel/Vice President of Commerce Casino.
- David Stearns, Owner of Central Coast Casino.
Representatives of the General Public
- Robert Doyle, Sheriff-Coroner, Riverside County.
- Kenneth James, Chief of Police, City of Emeryville.
- Mark Powers, Vice-President, California Broadcasters Association
- Roxanne Rhodes, Business owner, professional poker player and Board of Directors of the International Poker Association.
- Bruce Roberts, Executive Director, California Council on Problem Gambling.
