Governor Brown reappointed Lauren Hammond to the Gambling Control Commission on March 1, 2014. Commissioner Hammond was initially appointed on April 11, 2011. Prior to her appointment, Commissioner Hammond was a principal at L. Hammond & Associates. She also served as a councilmember, representing the 5th district for the City of Sacramento, from 1997 to 2010 where she also served as chair of the Law and Legislation Committee. Commissioner Hammond also served as a consultant to the California State Senate from 1981 to 2004. Commissioner Hammond is a member of the International Masters of Gaming Law. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Government from California State University, Sacramento.
