CALIFORNIA GAMBLING CONTROL COMMISSION

Responsible Gambling

Gambling Should Never Be A Problem

We at the California Gambling Control Commission want everyone who does participate in gambling to do so responsibly.  Borrowing money to play, spending above your budget or using money that you have allocated for other purposes, can ultimately lead to more significant problems for you and your family.

Most Californians gamble for fun.  Most people use money from their entertainment budget to go to a casino or a horse race, to play cards or bingo or to buy a lottery ticket. But according to the recent Prevalence Study conducted for the California Office of Problem and Pathological Gambling, 9.5% of adult Californians may be at-risk for developing problems managing their gambling. Approximately 2.2% of adult Californians are already experiencing problems associated with Gambling and 1.5% may be classsified as pathological gamblers, meaning that they are battling a disorder.

If you think that you or someone you care about might have a gambling problem, call the 1-800-GAMBLER Helpline or visit the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, Office of Problem Gambling, at www.problemgambling.ca.gov, for additional information and resources.

If you would like to VOLUNTARILY EXCLUDE yourself from all California Cardrooms, click here for a Self Exclusion Form. Please note that this self-ban is IRREVOCABLE for the time period you choose (one year, five years, or lifetime) and must be either notarized or witnessed by a licensed card room employee.
