BUDGET

SB 189 (Chapter 48, Statutes of 2022, Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review). State Government

In part, this bill: (1) repeals fee schedules for the renewal of a state gambling license and annual fees; (2) specifies that the fee for renewal of a state gambling license shall be determined by the Commission in accordance with regulations; (3) limits the amount of fees collected to the reasonable regulatory expenditures of the Bureau of Gambling Control and the Commission for administering the Gambling Control Act; and (4) establishes biennial reporting requirements for the Commission to provide the established fee levels to the Legislature.

SB 559 (Chapter 467, Statutes of 2022, Hurtado). Tribal gaming: compact ratification

This bill, an urgency measure, ratifies the tribal-state gaming compact between the State of California and the Santa Rosa Indian Community of the Santa Rosa Rancheria. This bill also provides that, in deference to tribal sovereignty, certain actions related to this compact are not projects for the purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act.


SB 898 (Chapter 19, Statutes of 2022, Dodd). Tribal gaming: compact amendment ratification

This bill, an urgency measure, ratifies amendments to extend the terms of the tribal-state gaming compacts between the State of California and the following Indian tribes: Alturas Indian Rancheria, California; the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians, California; the Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria, California; the Berry Creek Rancheria of Maidu Indians of California; the Big Sandy Rancheria of Western Mono Indians of California; the Bishop Paiute Tribe; the Blue Lake Rancheria; the Cachil Dehe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community of the Colusa Rancheria, California; the Cahto Tribe of the Laytonville Rancheria; the Cahuilla Band of Indians; the Campo Band of Diegueno Mission Indians of the Campo Indian Reservation, California; the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe of the Chemehuevi Reservation, California; the Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria, California; the Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians of California; the Elem Indian Colony of Pomo Indians of the Sulphur Bank Rancheria, California; the Ewiiaapaayp Band of Kumeyaay Indians, California; the Hopland Band of Pomo Indians, California; the Manchester Band of Pomo Indians of the Manchester Rancheria, California; the Middletown Rancheria of Pomo Indians of California; the Pauma Band of Luiseno Mission Indians of the Pauma & Yuima Reservation, California; the Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians of California; the Pit River Tribe, California; the Redding Rancheria, California; the Resighini Rancheria, California; the Robinson Rancheria; the Santa Rosa Indian Community of the Santa Rosa Rancheria, California; the Sherwood Valley Rancheria of Pomo Indians of California; the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians, California; and the Table Mountain Rancheria. This bill, an urgency measure, ratifies the tribal-state gaming compacts between the State of California and the following two Indian tribes: the Middletown Rancheria of Pomo Indians of California, and the Santa Rosa Indian Community of the Santa Rosa Rancheria. This bill also provides that, in deference to tribal sovereignty, certain actions related to these compacts are not projects for the purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act.


SB 910 (Chapter 470, Statutes of 2022, Hurtado). Tribal gaming: compact ratification

This bill, an urgency measure, ratifies the tribal-state gaming compact between the State of California and the Tejon Indian Tribe. This bill also provides that, in deference to tribal sovereignty, certain actions related to this compact are not projects for the purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act.
